A 21-year-old woman presents to the colorectal clinic with a change of bowel habit and mucus diarrhoea. At sigmoidoscopy you note mucosal inflammation. A biopsy is taken which identifies scanty epithelioid cells, abscess formation, copious mucus and blood. Which of the above findings is most likely indicator of Crohn's disease as opposed to ulcerative colitis?

A. Abscess formation
B. Age of the patient
C. Epithelioid cells
D. Inflammation of the mucosa
E. Sex of the patient
