Module 12: Cardiology (Assessment)
A 55 year old man comes in with acute chest pain for the past 30 minutes. He is a known diabetic on treatment. The pain is retrosternal, severe and associated with dyspnoea. He is conscious, tachypneic, sweaty and in pain. His BP is 130/80 mm Hg, pulse is 96 min-1 regular. The ECG is normal. Chose one thing you would NOT do :
A. Set up an intravenous line
B. Observe him and repeat his ECG one hour later
C. Give him 300 mg of aspirin to chew
D. Send him to hospital immediately
E. Give him 5 mg of intravenous morphine slowly
