An 85-year-old diabetic patient suffers a displaced intra-capsular fracture of the femoral neck. The proposed treatment plan is for a hemi-arthroplasty due to the increased risk of which one of the following?
A. Avascular necrosis
B. Hip arthritis
C. Infection
D. Non-union
E. Osteoporosis

Explanatory Notes:
Displaced intra-capsular fractures in the elderly are associated with high risk of avascular necrosis of the femoral head and are best treated with a hemiarthroplasty. In younger or more active patients, internal fixation or total arthroplasty are both options
