Puan Faridah presents to your practice with her 9 month old son who she notes has been intermittently crying for the last 6 hours which is associated with vomiting. He has not had any loose stools and in fact has not had a dirty nappy for the last 12 hours or so. Apart from pallor, the rest of the examination is unremarkable. Which of the following statements is likely to be TRUE?

A. Urinary tract infection is the most likely cause of the baby’s problem.
B. The baby is highly likely to have an acute gastroenteritis and should be commenced on oral rehydration therapy as soon as possible.
C. A full septic work-up is indicated and should be performed.
D. Episodes of unexplained irritability are common for babies of this age and Puan Faridah should be therefore reassured accordingly.
E. Intussusceptions should be considered as the cause of the problem.
