While walking across a road a 21-year-old man is struck by a car. His pelvis is found to be fractured with diastasis of the symphysis pubis and sacroiliac joint distortion. Vital signs are as follows. BP 110/70mmHg, Pulse 95/min, Respiratory rate 22/min. He is unable to void spontaneously. On examining him, blood is found at his urethral meatus.
